Peter, Paul and Mary: 10 Greatest Hits

Peter, Paul and Mary was the most popular folk group in the 1960s and here are some of the group’s classic hits.

It was in 1961 when three folk singers namely: Peter Yarrow, Noel “Paul” Stookey and Mary Travers stood on stage and made their debut at Greenwich Village’s Bitter End coffee house. Since then Peter, Paul & Mary was considered the most popular folk group of the 1960s. With the proper guidance and motivation given by their manager Albert Grossman, the group had recorded about one album a year. And many of the songs are classics–”Blowin’ In The Wind,” “If I Had A Hammer,” “Puff, The Magic Dragon.” With many albums, Grammy awards and concerts behind them, Peter, Paul, and Mary (often called PP&M) still is active in music industry. Their newly Warner Bros. CD, Around The Campfire, signals the arrival of a collection of twenty-one of their classic songs, combined with four new songs never before recorded by the Trio. The group was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1999. Peter, Paul, and Mary received the Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award from Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2006.

Below is my list of Peter, Paul and Mary greatest hits, yours may be different. Hope you enjoy each song.

  20. my most favorite among all those favorites is Puff, the magic dragon - it's about a never-ending friendship and loyalty of a dragon to a boy until he became a man and had his own family.. it was a sad ending when Puff disappear and never seen again because he felt his friend had forgotten him..
