If you eat less food, your stomach will shrink
Those who are on a diet program are often advised by doctors to slow down on their food intake, for it is believed that in so doing, the stomach size will shrink. Don’t be fooled by this notion! The amount of food intake has nothing do to with the size of our digestive system, it will always maintain a constant volume throughout life. The only benefit of eating less is that it will help in weight loss.

Banknotes are made out of paper
We have grown up believing that the monetary unit ‘bills“ or “paper money” is made from paper. False! Paper bills are in fact made from cotton. Can’t believe this fact, then here’s another revelation that will surprise you more, plastic or polymer banknotes! In 1988, the banking agency of Australia put into circulation the first “paper money” made from polymer biaxial-oriented polypropylene (BOPP) material.

Wild goldfish are gold
Most children believe that wild goldfish are actually gold in color. Myth busted! Wild goldfish are green, only domestic goldfish that are carefully bred retain their golden-red color. Leaving them alone in their natural habitat, domestic goldfish will revert back to their nature color – olive green hue.

You can only fold a piece of paper in half seven times
Five dollar bet! You can’t fold a piece of paper in half more than seven times. It is a popular belief that this fact is unattainable, regardless of how small or large the paper is. Hold it! In 2002, Britney Gallivan, an American college student, did the feat. She succeeded in folding in half a dozen times a piece of toilet paper 1,220-m long.

Hair and nails continue to grow after death
On average, hair and fingernails grow to about 1/10 of millimeter a day, making them one of our body’s fastest growing cells. Do hair and fingernails still grow after death? It’s a big NO. As soon as one dies, the body loses its moisture and start to dehydrate and causes the skin to retract. As a result, some perceived seeing hair and fingernails still growing but the truth is their eyes simply played tricks on them or plain optical illusion.

Pencils are made with lead
Another misconception we grew up with is — Stabbing yourself with a pencil will result to emergency situations because of lead poisoning. Don’t get paranoid, pencils contain no lead! Instead pencils are made of graphite and clay. Myth Busted!

No, its NOT! For the record, white chocolate is not recognized as a “true” chocolate. Why, because one main ingredient of chocolate is missing – cocoa liquor. Instead, cocoa butter is used.

Screw-caps equal cheap wine
Don’t’ judge a wine by its caps! Wine with screw-cap are NOT cheap. The wine content speaks for itself, The only advantage wine capped with traditional corks over screw-cap ones is they look more pleasing to consumers. However, corks can become moldy and can produced a chemical compound called (trichloroanisole) to be mix in the wine.
