Paul McCartney’s Classics Songs

A list of Paul McCartney’s greatest songs done during his Beatles days.

This is the third of five articles I have written about the Beatles, one if not the most popular band that ever performed. Today, we will take a look at Paul McCartney, the band’s bassist and lead vocalist along with John Lennon. Ever since, I’ve always admired Paul McCartney’s ability to sing in a wide range of styles from his “ provoking” voice in the song “Why Don’t We Do It In The Road” to his sweet and gentle rendition of “I Will”. Indeed, Paul McCartney is a great composer and a singer and it is fitting to list 7 of his greatest songs during his Beatles days. Here is my list in alphabetical order plus video clips are added for you to fully appreciate each song.

“And I Love Her” – is a tender ballad, Paul compose for her girlfriend Jane Asher. A beautiful and simple song it is the fifth track on their 1964 album A Hard Day’s Night.

“Blackbird” - inspired by a famous Bach piece, this song has a great influence on acoustic guitar players. This extremely beautiful ballad is included in the Beatles The White Album (1968).

“Eleanor Rigby” – McCartney actually won the 1966 Grammy Award for best male vocal performance for this one. This pop song that talks about death and loneliness is included in the 1966 album Revolver.

“Here, There, & Everywhere” – It’s a an extremely beautiful song where again the Beatles showcase their wide range of repertoire. Paul McCartney admitted that it is his favorite song. This is also included in the Revolver album.

“Hey Jude” – it’s a ballad composed by McCartney for Julian (John Lennon’s son) that showcased McCartney’s great singing ability going with a soft and sweet voice at the beginning and finishing it up quite wildly. Released in 1968 and lasting more than seven minutes long, Hey Jude was one of the Beatles biggest selling singles in their history.

“I Will” – a charming love song that is less than two minutes, it is also a cut in their 1968 White Album, I really admired how McCartney put life in this simple song with his gentle and sweet voice.

“Let It Be” -is one of the group’s most enduring song released as a single from their 1970 album Let It Be. Though a Lennon/McCartney collaboration it is generally accepted as Paul McCartney’s original composition. Also look out for George Harrison great guitar solo.

“Yesterday” – from their album Help (1965), Yesterday is an absolutely timeless song. The song ushered in a new era in popular music. It was the first time in music history that a rock group used strings in a song in this way. This song featured no other Beatles except for Paul McCartney.

A Child’s Laughter

The magic of a child's laughter

photo: Pakoy

A child laughter is a sweet music to the ear
Like angels singing, a joy to listen
From a baby’s giggle on a crib somewhere
To a toddler’s laughter out there playin’.

A child’s laughter can bring a smile
To someone mad about life
Laughter that covers pain for a while
And brings hope and will to survive.

A child’s laughter full of innocence and joy
Adults desire but deprive of such
Laughter that offers dreams to enjoy
And brings back memories we treasure much.

A child’s laughter can bring out the best
To someone, when he’s depressed
Because his spirit starts to soar
When he laughs once more.
